As a volunteer with Braiding Connections, I acknowledge and agree to abide by all organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines as outlined by the staff and leadership. I understand that the nature of volunteer work within a mental health setting may involve sensitive and emotionally challenging situations, and I commit to approaching all tasks with professionalism, compassion, and confidentiality.

I recognize that I am volunteering of my own free will and at my own risk. I acknowledge that Braiding Connections, its employees, board members, partners, and affiliates are not liable for any injury, illness, psychological stress, or other health-related issues that may arise from my volunteer work with the organization.

I further understand and agree that:

  • I will not receive any monetary compensation, benefits, or other rewards for my volunteer services.

  • My role does not constitute employment, nor does it create an expectation of future employment or financial compensation

  • I am responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries and referring any situations beyond my training to qualified staff.

By signing this agreement, I affirm that I am mentally and physically capable of performing volunteer duties and that I will seek support or notify the organization if I become unable to do so safely.

We are grateful to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting. Treaty 6 was entered into in 1876. For almost 150 years, we have been living, working, and growing on this land that is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, the Nakoda Sioux, the Dene, the Saulteaux, as well as the Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We acknowledge this land is also within the historical Northwest Métis Homeland which includes the North Saskatchewan River Territory, the Lesser Slave Lake Territory, and the Lower Athabasca Territory. We acknowledge the Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders, both past and present, and are grateful for their contributions that helped keep this land beautiful.
