Marcus Johnstone

Marcus is a provisional psychologist specializing in trauma, with a focus on supporting Indigenous communities. His background weaves together formal clinical training with traditional cultural and spiritual teachings. Reconnecting with his own ancestral practices has been a central part of Marcus’s healing journey, profoundly informing how he approaches care and connection with others. Working in the field, Marcus and his colleague recognized a distinct disconnect in support, where financial and accessibility barriers often prevent individuals from receiving the care they need. He is deeply committed to bridging the gap between mental health services and cultural connection, recognizing that true healing often begins with reconnecting to one’s roots. Marcus believes that access to culturally grounded support is essential for healing trauma and empowering individuals to thrive.

Marcus is a Provisional Psychologist with an undergrad in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta, and a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University

We are grateful to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting. Treaty 6 was entered into in 1876. For almost 150 years, we have been living, working, and growing on this land that is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, the Nakoda Sioux, the Dene, the Saulteaux, as well as the Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We acknowledge this land is also within the historical Northwest Métis Homeland which includes the North Saskatchewan River Territory, the Lesser Slave Lake Territory, and the Lower Athabasca Territory. We acknowledge the Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders, both past and present, and are grateful for their contributions that helped keep this land beautiful.
